F.U. List Archives
These are the following lists available at the Freehackers Union:
The full archives directory listing gives the available mailing lists you can join and the archives you can view. This is where you find a FU Local’s list.
You can’t read the converse archives until you get the password, but getting it is not that hard. Just join the mailing lists and you’ll receive the archive passwords.
Note that the passwords aren’t to keep people from reading the list. They are simply a low pass filter to keep out bots and MBAs who are too stupid to figure out how to subscribe.
You can join a mailing list easily:
Repeat the process for the announce at freehackersunion dot org but don’t send to this unless you need to announce something.
If you send a message with help as the subject to minimalist at freehackersunion dot org then minimalist will tell you how to work the list. There are many commands you can do, but here’s the main instructions repeated for you:
Supported commands are:
subscribe <list> [<email>] :
Subscribe user to <list>. If <list> contains suffix '-writers', user
will be able to write to this <list>, but will not receive messages
from it.
unsubscribe <list> [<email>] :
Unsubscribe user from <list>. Can be used with suffix '-writers' (see
above description for subscribe)
auth :
Confirm command, used in response to subscription requests in some cases.
This command isn't standalone, it must be used only in response to a
request by Minimalist.
suspend <list> :
Stop receiving of messages from specified mailing list
resume <list> :
Restore receiving of messages from specified mailing list
maxsize <list> <size> :
Set maximum size (in bytes) of messages, which user wants to receive
which [<email>] :
Return list of lists to which user is subscribed
info [<list>] :
Request information about all existing lists or about <list>
who <list> :
Return the list of users subscribed to <list>
help :
Return list of supported commands with brief description about every
command
If you think that a new list is needed then bring it up in the converse list for discussion.
